Think You've Solved the First Puzzle But Getting "Wrong Answer"?
Take a hint from Puzzle Master Ken Jennings (from his blog):
"Since most of you newcomers are probably using the digital copy of the October Smithsonian, let me reiterate something I've said in this space before: look closely. The limitations of pixel resolution make the first puzzle a little harder to solve online than it was in the print edition. If you think you have the right first password but the website disagrees, you're probably very close... but not quite there."

Cracking the code
The hunt begins with cracking the code below; however, to complete the first puzzle, you must have a print or digital copy of the October 2012 issue of the magazine. Not a subscriber? Get a digital version of the issue here.
Thomas Jefferson appears on the cover of our October issue, and you'll need to consult Jefferson's greatest creation in order to crack this code. This will eventually lead to a password that will serve as your gateway to the rest of the puzzle. Remember that Jefferson, as a man of letters, always measured his words carefully, so you'll need to do the same. As you're reading, a hint: When first, finish with Honor. When you've solved the first puzzle, come back and continue the adventure.
